News: Spanish property sales up by 18,5%
Property sales in Spain are on the rise again, according to recent reports.
A total of 122,787 homes were bought in the first quarter of the year, representing an increase of 18.5% on the same period in 2016 and the best figure for the first quarter of a year ever since 2008.
This is really good news for homeowners currently looking to sell up, perhaps to buy somewhere else on the Costa Blanca.
As far as sales of second-hand property in Spain are concerned, the total number of transactions amounted to 112,016, accounting for 91.2% of the total, while 10,771 new properties were bought. The Costa Blanca is experiencing a new property construction booming with quite a few new projects currently under construction in much sought-after areas like Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja.
With 20.593 purchases, foreigners accounted for 16.8% of transactions, with topping the list followed by Málaga, Barcelona, Madrid, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Baleares.
